Square U-Bolts

A square U-Bolt is a metal rod with threaded ends bent into a square U-shape. Made for securing suspension, industrial and construction components.

What Is A Square U-Bolt?

Square U-bolts are a type of fastener designed for connecting objects to square or rectangular surfaces. Square U-bolts have a squared-off shape that makes them ideal for projects involving flat or angular components.

Main Characteristics Of A Square U-Bolt.

There are some simple ways to identify a square U-bolt. The easiest are its shape and the material it is made of. Square U-bolts always have a flat top, resembling a square-shaped letter 'U.' They are always made of metal and threaded at both ends as well. This metal can be raw steel (non-coated), zinc-plated, galvanized, stainless steel, powder-coated, or wrapped in rubber tubing.

Square U-Bolts On Automotive Suspension.

Automotive suspension is the most common use for square U-bolts. They are used to attach leaf springs to axle housings and to install airbag kits. When used on leaf springs, the U-bolt is placed on top of the spring. The legs run down and into a leaf spring U-bolt plate, creating a fastening point. The U-bolt can then be torqued, connecting the leaf spring and axle together. For airbag installations, the U-bolt runs through the airbag mounting plates, connecting it between the leaf spring and the frame.

Square U-Bolts On Trailer Suspension.

Trailer suspension is another common use for square U-bolts. Just as with trucks and cars, square U-bolts are used to attach trailer leaf springs to trailer axles. The same process occurs where the U-bolts rest on top of the trailer spring, run down the sides, and connect to a U-bolt plate. After torquing the U-bolt, the leaf spring and axle are securely fastened together.

Square U-Bolts For Construction Use.

In the construction industry U-bolts are used for a variety of reasons. Square U-bolts are used to secure metal beams, conduits, and framing components. They also provide support in scaffolding, bridge construction, and building frameworks. Their high tensile strength makes sure that the structural integrity of large-scale construction projects is uncompromised.

Square U-Bolts For Industrial Use.

In industrial facilities like factories and manufacturing plants, square U-bolts are relied upon to ensure the proper mounting of equipment. Square U-bolts are used to mount pipes and conduits to walls and ceilings, secure machinery components, support conveyor systems, and fasten brackets and equipment frames. Their square shape creates a strong connection, reducing movement and vibrations that could lead to wear, tear, or loosening at the mounting points.
